New Years Display at Risser's
Hornberger casket spray

Most expect a time of relaxation after a busy holiday.  A time to retrospect and take note of your success and failures for the season.  January has not afforded us that time.  Unfortunately January has been a time of loss for many.  Whether it is the stress of the holidays or just the opposite knowing they have spent a final happy time with their love ones death is always untimely.  We have been very busy with funeral work every week including the loss of our own loving grandfather Henry Hornberger.  While a time of loss it can also be seen as a time of renewal.  A brand new year to start again.  As we prepare for Valentines Day a decision to move the entire store around for a fresh look was decided.  As you will see in the pictures everything is a little different.  Coming soon will be more foliage and blooming plants including Bonsai.  Advertising around the town including Risser's restaraunt, Raub's Twin Kiss, Sovereign Bank and Spring Valley Fitness has given us more exposure.  We have started advertising in local newspapers including Bridal issues.  Look for us in the Lebanon Daily News, Myerstown Herald and soon to be in Martha Stewarts Wedding magazine and the Knot.  We have recently joioned Teleflora to offer worldwide delivery of flowers.  Check out the website and don't forget to sign up for a RSS feed.  Then you can be up on the latest from us including special deals and coupons. Thanks for listening and look forward to any comments.

It has been a whirlwind few months.  Grace thank you for the comments.  Strickler Graphics is my local sign maker.  He has done some outstanding work at a very reasonable price.  Search amongst your community to find a local artisan.  I am sure they will offer a reasonable price for their service and you make a new customer for your business at the same time.  Think of utilizing your local community like an investment that will pay back ten-fold in friends and customers.  I am glad to hear our experiences will be useful to you and hope they continue to be.   We have gone so far in only a few months.  We planned on opening when we did to start the big season off right.  Just in time to capitalize on all the major holidays.  We had a terrific Thanksgiving which rolled into a better Christmas.  We are currently ramping up for Valentines Day.  I want to stepback a few months and mention Thanksgiving.  When we first opened it was to afford us more space to accomadate our growing home business.  Growing as a result of the great bond with our local churches, schools, businesses, friends and families of the community.  Being our first season we had no idea how busy Thanksgiving would be.  This is where a great relationship with your wholesale flower supplier pays off.  They are their to help you grow.  We currently deal with Dillon Floral and McCreights.  Local suppliers provide personal service and support you will not get from anyone else.  Sandy from Dillon takes excellent care of us and I thank her and all the Dillon staff and family for their support.  Encourage your customers to pre-order early offering incentives if necessary.  We sent out a mailer and placed displays in local restaraunts for exposure.  It enabled us to prepare and order ahead.  When we experienced even more walk in sales that relationship with your wholesaler comes in calling the night before and staying up making the orders for first thing the next day.  I will post some pictures from Thanksgiving.  Thanks for listening and I will follow up with pictures and more posts from Christmas.
